Yes, check very carefully to make sure everything that is supposed to be connected actually is. Use an ohm meter and the layout or schematic to verify that all the connections are good and nothing is miswired.

Check for shorts. Check all the grounds. Make sure all the electrolytic capacitors are oriented the proper way.

If all the wiring is good try powering it up with no tubes and check the voltages. They will be higher than normal, but the fuse shouldn't blow.

It's possible your output tube is bad. Do you have another one you can try after you make sure everything is wired properly? It could be a 6V6 or 6L6.

Does the Tweed / 'Tude switch make any difference?

And is again...Thanks Mitch...did all that too, everything tidy and in order it seemed, and then decided to try something too obvious and so easy it made me look for a more difficult trouble.
I swapped the tube, switched to lower current for 6v6 cathode R.
Lazy [I should have looked over and verified the circuit configuration first], funny [don't laugh..I'm just glad the mosfet's sturdy sense of humor only emitted smoke signals to end the comedy stress !] and luck that the design/hardware was able to withstand the negligent.
Then taken down to jam, and all night long +comments, interest and admiration.
Super Solid Rock Amp.
