Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum, though I've been checking it out for a few weeks. I just received an 18 watt plexi kit with the vrm mod. As this is my first time building an amp, do you think I should build it without the mod at first just to simplify things, then add the mod once it's running? Or is the mod relatively easy to include from the get go?

I'm hoping to get started this weekend. THANKS!

Just my opinion, but I'd build the amp without the VRM first. Make sure everything works, then mess with the power supply.

If you have to do any troubleshooting, the fewer things that can go wrong the better.

The VRM looks like it's pretty easy to install later on.

+1....Adding the VRM isn't complicated at all in a cathode-biased amp, and doing the initial build without it will allow you to troubleshoot easier.

Well, I finally had time to build the amp. Having never built anything this involved, I was fairly nervous and reviewed a lot as I went. It paid off! The amp sounded beautiful the first time I fired it up. All the directions were amazingly clear!

Now, a few questions:

I haven't installed the VRM yet. Should I? Man, this amp sounds so good I don't want to mess it up.

What exactly does the clean boost do? The effect seems subtle at certain volumes.

I have the plexi model. What's the difference between the TMB channel and the normal channel? They seem extremely similar.
