As the title says. Great kit. This is my second Trinity build. I built a Tweed back in 2010. Everything is working as it should but I’ve got a fairly significant 60hz hum with any guitar plugged into either channel. The hum increases with volume. I’ve tried changing preamp tubes with no effect. I don’t have another pair of power tubes. I’ll check all my ground connections tomorrow. Getting some scratchiness on the volume pots too. More to come.

I found the problem. The ground on the normal channel high input RG cable was a cold solder. I touched it up and now the amp is dead silent with a guitar plugged in. The chopstick trick came in handy for this one. :)

I should clarify that the noise was more of a buzz than a hum just in case anyone else is trying to sort out a similar problem.

Really enjoying the tone of this amp. It goes from a beautiful clean tone to a raging beast just by varying the volume knob on the guitar. A LP sounds like a LP and a Telecaster sounds like a Telecaster. I can even hear a bit of Fender Tweed in the tone but it definitely can do Marshall crunch.

Any sound clips?

The description says it sounds a bit more open then other variants of the circuit, do you find that to be true?

No sound clips but I will say that it can sound very transparent on the TMB channel if gain is kept down. Crank it up and it just roars with complex overtones. I haven’t compared them side by side but I think it can do cleans better than my Tweed at similar volumes. And the Tweed does do cleans well. The nice thing is it does heavy overdrive without falling apart like the Tweed does. More versatile I’d guess is what I’d call it. And all with the twist of the volume knob on your guitar. I’m using SD Seth Lover’s in my LP both neck and bridge with 50’s wiring and the Telecaster is a stock Baja with a Twisted Tele in the neck and a Broadcaster in the bridge.

I played Greg’s new build a few days ago. I can attest to the great tone. The variety attainable in this amp has caused major amp envy. I’m really surprised by the bass in this amp. The greenback sounds perfect. Greg did a great job on this build. Post some pics, Bud.

Ah, shucks. Thanks Duke. I’ll have to figure out how to post some pics when I get a day off. The amp really has a broad range of tones and a surprising amount of bass available for a single Greenback. Cabinet used was a closed back. I would love to hear it though a Marshall 1936 style cab with a pair of Greenbacks.

Looks like that worked. I’ve ordered a Trinity head cabinet for this great amp. I was going to build my own but it deserves better than what I’d make.

Thanks! Your great build manual, layout and schematic made it all possible. Can’t wait to see the cabinet!!
