Well,with the marshall switch,when i measure the resistance,I get 1.7ohms,1.2ohms and .7 ohms.Presumably for the 4,8,and 16ohm taps.If you look at the marshall schematic for say,a JTM45,it shows the jacks are grounded with a common wire.When you have a 1/4" jack plugged in,all the taps are grounded through the common.In this case the green wire of the OT.The switch separates the taps and allows the current to flow to the speaker through the tap selected.That's my story and I'm sticking to it! The only difference I see with swichcraft jacks that I see is the ground is there even before you plug in the jack.I think that the marshall way might be quieter,but this amp makes very little noise.It is a Tweed Deluxe head.i hope I'm right!
