What exactly is speaker break in? Does it have something to do with the paper cone, or is it something to do with the coil?

Approximately how many hours of playing are required, and what is the end result sonically?

Thanks
Chappy

Loudspeaker break in streteches the spider, cone, surround [i.e. mechanicals] etc. The coil is not a factor.

The first 4 hours of play will impact the sound the most. A 6.3VAC, 60 Hz signal applied for 2 - 4 hours should be enough to do it. We all have access to that!
Of course, if the speakers were broken in at the factory, the supplier or are used, then this will not make any difference.

After break-in, you might notice increase bass response, smoother midrange and reduced buzz in the high end.

Not broken in. I broke a pair of those in at a 8 hour jam session once. 8)

How do you like the Sammi Chappy, I have been using them for a while and I think for the price they are a superb speaker.

I liked them but found them a bit dark.

My latest plan is a twin cab with one Sammi and a Lorantz.

I haven't played it that much yet, only a few hours. I'm in the final stages of putting my 18W amp completely together. It sounds really good to me so far, but I don't have any other speakers to compare it to. I am a novice player, and this is my first tube amp build.
