Been collecting parts, built the board (Sunday through today), the chassis is on the way and will order transformers is a few weeks. I'll replace the 0.01uF caps and a couple resistors when I find the ones I want. Learning how to use PhotoBucket so I'll add pics of the progress.

Thanks. It's on hold for now, don't want to rush. Besides I still need the transformers. I'm also building a Firefly low wattage amp and started a BYOC vibrato kit today. If all goes well the sIII will be completed mid October. If you see anything that needs to be corrected or improved upon please speak up. All constructive criticism is welcome.

Which ones do you plan to use?

I would move the power tubes over one slot so it lines up with the board better.

A Trinity set. So if I move the power tubes over should I move the rectifier too?

Nope, you can leave the rectifier tube where it is; nice & close to the PT. Plug the hole.

Moved the power tube sockets as recommended, rewired the heaters rather than splicing, wired the AC sans transformers and wired the pots over the past week. Added a few more pics and ordered the transformers today. Not sure what I'm going to do about the PI tube yet. Read the post about what tubes to use and had never thought about a balanced PI. Going to start another post asking how to balance and / or match tubes (for those that have tube testers).

I think I posted one somehwere. If you have a digital meter, you can do it.

Received transformers today; like 48 hours turnaround. Wow! I have everything ready and only need to drop-in / connect them. Two hours later; finely got the OT installed (not connected). Two of my board mounting screws were in the way and I had to move them, not an easy task as all the board connections had already been made.

For anyone new & thinking about building a Trinity product PLEASE keep in mind that any of the problems I've had with this build were my own doing. I only purchased the chassis & transformers from Trinity. I sourced all the other parts and made a few changes along the way. Oh well, just speaking my mind.............

Not sure when I all some more pics and my camera's CCD is failing. When I power it on it either works or don't.

Installed / connected the PT, 2A fuse and powered it on. The wall AC is 121.3Vac and V6 P1 & P7 at 311.8Vac. Got to find out what to check and in what order. My camera is working so a added a few more pics.

Done, have sound, kind of quite, using a Strat with Kinmans into a 2x12 Avatar cab. Amperex EZ81, JJ power, RCA 12AX7 V1, HP 12AX7 V2 and a balanced Phillips 12AT7 V3. I like it!

Congrats on your build. Now try to replace that Phillips 12AT7 with a 12AX7 . It wont be so quiet!

OK, but should I try and get a balanced one (thinking that V3 is the PI????) and does balancing help V1 and V2 positions?

Heres the deal; I have a Hickok 600 tube tester and am not 100% sure how to use it. I measured the tubes for V1 - V3 and placed them as follows.
V1 RCA 12AX7, no shorts and measured 2000 on both sides.
V2 HP 12AX7, no shorts and measured about 1500 / 1800.
V3 Phillips 12AT7, no shorts an 2300 / 2300.
I have not attempted to test rectifiers or for gas.
I do believe my B+ is on the low side (less than 320) and will try another EZ81.

Those with tube testers please chime in.
Thanks!

You don't need a balanced PI in a guitar amp. You really don't need a balanced tube anywhere in a guitar amp. It is convenient to have a set of power tubes that are not too unbalanced. Within 5-10 ma is usually enough.

My photo gallery has changed; here is the new one. Some of the folders are empty but I plan to add to them soon. It's a work in progress.................

I have swapped a couple tubes (V3 to a 12AX7 and V6 from the Amperex to a Mullard and the B+ jumped from 320'ish to 362). Measured a few more pins but got hum (and clicking sounds through the speakers) when checking V1 through V3. Looking back maybe I should have moved the test lead ground from the power side to the preamp side. Would that have accounted for the hum / clicking or is noise normal when checking V1 - V3?
