I contacted the Tubestore I spoke to Jon (excellent service). He suggested that I lightly tap all of the pre-amp tubes with the amp on to locate the microphonic pre-amp tube. I did this and found no difference but I noticed that one of my power tubes (stock Fender installed stuff) was not glowing. Jon mentioned that I should re-seat the offending tube and see if that could correct itself and he said that also might be the problem of the strange noises. I re-seated the tube this did not correct the problem so I switched the tubes around and the power tube when on but flickered off. Jon said that the tube is probably shorting out internally and I should replace at lease two tubes. I ordered a whole new set power and pre-amp tubes just in case... The Tubestore gives excellent service-they were very patient with me.

If you hear that the power grid goes down in Quebec you know the Bubbleboy has popped while changing his tubes.

I'm going to suggest this, but I know you don't have this. Someone else might to want to chime in.

I clean ALL my tube sockets prior to putting tubes in them. :D
I use "Techspray" Kleen-it Cleaner/lubricant. Works wonderful :D :D. Most people don't have this.

Coco is there another way. I'm so use to doing this I've never investigated another way :? Leemo, what do you use.
I think this might solve issues with his amp.
Thanks,
Later,
Jac

I use basic contact cleaner and gently 'roll' the tube around with the pins in the socket.

Yes, The Tube Store is great.

jac,
Sorry that I didn't answer right away. I've used Rat Shack cleaner and Blue Shower. Moreso on pots that sockets. I usually just rotate the tube as I pull it out and then back in. It seems to work so far. I'm probably just loosening the clips  but it plays well with my lazy lifestyle. 8)

No problem take your time. Appreciate the response.
I'm finishing the wiring. Taking a break right now. The power up on the sIII will take place today. The wiring hurts my eye's. The combo so tight. So I have to keep taking breaks. Have to keep putting in my tear drops in every time I break. (Don't ask)
