As far as reverb goes. I worked on one with a friend who is a Fender reverb, Country player. Great one too!

We tweaked a foldback style reverb until he was happy. Not Fender happy or Surf happy, just happy. I was going to try a 'real' verb in there but it would be interesting to know what design Matchless used in theirs.

Next R&D break.

I'm guessing R&D would be research & Development?
If it is, I don't think I've ever seen R&D and "break" used in the same sentence before. :lol: :lol:

Coco,

Those rings around the ef-86.

How about using a shield with a spring in it. I have a few here.
Do you think that would stabilize it?

Still wondering about this, anyone.
If it's better to put those rubber rings round the EF-86, I don't see why the springs in the shields won't work.

Hey Jac, the 'heavy duty high mass vacuum tube dampers' are meant to grip and squeeze the tube in order to reinforce or re-establish contact between the mica spacers and the glass bottle. This will reduce the audible effects of microphonic tubes.

I use these on NOS big bottle 6L6's like the 7581a's and my Valve Arts KT66's. I also use them on any noisy 12ax7's that I NEED to have in a particular amp. Your standard metal tube retainers, like the ones you find in most fender and Marshall amps are great for shielding and keeping the tubes in the sockets. They are not much use at keeping noisy tubes from getting in the way.

The old stock tubes that Coco is using are high enough gain that any noise coming from the internal structures of the tube really gets noticed (amplified) by the rest of the amp.

For tube dampners, try herbiesaudiolab.home.att.net.. I haven't used them but the Dr Z forum guys like them for their ef86 tubes.

Finally got the TC-15 panels sorted and in stock. Here's a pic of the prototype in "Black". Hard to tell but that's gloss black with silver lettering.

Here's the great tip of the day.Coco, your gonna love this.
Don't know if you have an Autozone there yet,
They have fuel injector silicon o-rings. You get 6 that happen to fit a 9pin EF86 perfectly and a couple extra smaller ones. Work perfect.
And again 6 for $9.00, the nice price.

No Autozone here, but a great tip. Got a Part Number? Manufacturer? On-line ordering maybe . That would be a bonus. I'll look around TO and see what can be found..

Nothing yet. The local Autozone I called. He actually has a box of rings. Talked to him and am going to to bring in the EF86, match it and find the proper rings. Ya gotta wonder if the whole time everyones been buying injector ring :lol:

On a funny note, here's the conversation. From Autozone.

Hi,
Do you have silicon fuel injector rings? Yes I do. Well I don't want them for cars! What! What are you talking about? Well, I build tube guitar amplifiers and have tubes that need silicon rings to stop the microphonics of the tubes. What! Well never mind. Be to hard to explain. Have you ever seen a tube back from the 50's or 60's. Yes I have. Great! Well I need to place 2 silicon rings around one. Needs to be heat resistant. Well, bring it in and we'll match it, I have a box to match the injector rings. Great Thank you.

okay,

Says part no: 90100.
On the website does not come up. But I am looking at the pack. It is the "HELP" packs Fuel injection o-rings.
They are thicker then what you have Coco. But fit perfectly.
If they're for injection rings should not have a problem handing temperature.
You need 3/4" rings.
