How Does it Sound?

Finally, this amp sounds awesome. Clean and clear, then crank up the Volume and get down & dirty. As much dirt as you can take. It is plenty loud, but with lots of headroom and fabulous feedback tone. This amp never strained. The tone controls are really fascinating and versatile - much more so then any other amp I've heard. You can make it sound however you want it to. It sounds very ‘shimmery”.

A warm natural overdrive and clear clean tones only begin to describe this amp's abilities. It is rated at 15 watts in Class A, but that's a conservative rating because this amp can get very loud when needed. It's simple yet interactive EQ gives you endless tone options from sparkling clean country to Vox chime without really needing reverb, and the master volume creates some of the best EL84 natural overdrive you'll find anywhere. This amp is truly amazing!

Sound Clips: Recently, I was extremely fortunate to hook up with Lawrence Bethune, a local Toronto guitar player with a home studio. I gave him my Lightning for a week to play with – and did he! WOW. He was very sad to see it go! Sadder to learn that it was already sold, but I’m making more.

He recorded a lot of clips using some of his many guitars and backgrounds and then mixed them down on his computer. Very cool process and I learned a ton.

The recording setup used various guitars, the Trinity Lightning, two Shure SM57s, Mackie VLZ preamp and then into Cool Edit pro. He recorded at 44.1K/32 bit and mixed down to 44.1K/16 bit. He added just a smidgen of reverb to the guitar in Cool Edit pro and a touch of compression on the track in general. The guitar was usually in the high gain input of the amp. Here’s a pic of Lawrence in the studio playing the Lightning! Lawrence Bethune

Lawrence has the following Amps: Kendrick 2410 '59 Bassman clone; Victoria Tweed Tremolux; Two-Rock Opal; THD Univalve and Fender Twin Reverbs.

He plays: '59 Les Paul Custom RI ; '59 335 RI ;'83 "Two Button" Strat ;83 JV Strat ;'62 RI Tele Custom;Tokai Custom Telecaster ;Tokai SG Standard ;Tokia "Lennon" Rickenbacker copy ;Gibson ES 135 /w p 90's ;Epiphone Blues Zephyer Deluxe (3 p-90's)

Take a listen to the Lightning clips in the Trinity 15  sound section of the Trinity Amps web site and decide for yourself.
