Hi all. I picked up this little gem on the weekend. It's a Mann GW90TRH head. It's one of the Garnet "Stencil" models. The Garnet folks figure it's mid 70's.

Very similar to a Princeton Reverb. 2x12AX7, 2x12AU7, 2x6V6GT, SS recto. Some of the pre tubes may be factory...the 12AU7's have "Garnet" stamped on them. The other 2 are labelled Westinginghouse. The power tubes are Sylvania. Neat little amp. It's not as bright as a Princeton, unless you engage the "bright" in which case it gets VERY glassy. Crunches up a little more when pushed hard. Tremolo is nice. Reverb is not as overwhealming as some of the Fenders (shorter 2-spring tank), but it does have a bit more "springyness" than the Deluxe Reverb clone I built last year.

The cab needs some work but it's just tolex. The rear panel is missing...assuming there was one in the first place.

I also got one of those huge Traynor 4x10 cabinets in the deal.

Anyway, some pics of the amp...

And I love the label on the reverb tank...

Very Nice!!

Looks to be a modern cap in the center, mod or repair?

So you going to use the 4x10 as is or mod it?

The amp had a cap job fairly recently from what I can tell. Don't think it was a mod...just routine maintenance for a 35-year-old amp I guess. There's a handful of modern-looking electrolytics in there.

I haven't pulled the back off the 4x10 yet so I don't know for sure what's in there. One of the speakers is a Fender replacement, but I'm told the others are stock. They're probably old Marslands. It does sound OK. The tolex is rather road worn and several of the metal corners are missing. It's solid though. Worth the effort to tidy up. I'm thinking I might load it up with 4 10" WGS Green Berets. I think Traynor used this same shell with 2x12 & 2x15 configurations. The thing is huge - 23.5"x40"x12"

OK - had to run downstairs & pull the back off the cab. After removing the forty (yes - forty) screws I discovered 3 R.S.C. Ultimus 10G27 speakers and a Fender replacement as I was told.

Anyone familiar with R.S.C. speakers from Toronto?

Not surprising. I have no idea if it's even the stock unit, but it appears to be.

BTW - I replaced that massive toggle switch with a standard Carling type. The lamp has just about had it so I may replace that also.
